Hi, I have been involved in genealogy for years, and originally learned it at the knee of my mother - long before the Internet was used!

I want to say how much I appreciate findagrave.com - and the wonderful contributors who take their time, talents and treasures to bring information to the rest of us.

However, some contributors are upset that their photos are used by others. I'm completely perplexed by this. If your photos are for 'personal genealogical purposes only', then PLEASE keep them on your personal computer's records and archives. There is NO reason to post them. If, however, you like helping people, find the internet-related genealogical community full of fun, helpful folk - then by all means, post your pictures! And do so with the understanding that your efforts are furthering OTHERS searches.

That being said, as I begin to post my own pictures and information, I welcome their use by anyone and everyone - so that they too may keep records and photos of their family histories in whatever format they choose - and on whatever website they choose.

Thank you again, everyone - for making findagrave.com a fantastic site!

Cheers,

Cate.
