Bio

My name is Debbie Ann Abbott Ashton. I was born and raised in the Central Arkansas area and lived in Alexander most of my life. My husband, James and I have raised our family in Alexander and now have four grandchildren.

Genealogy has always been an interest of mine. Now, being retired after 40 years of being a nurse, I'm working on my family tree. Also, I found this to be an interesting retirement hobby while searching for relatives graves. Having a great love for genealogy, visiting cemeteries is a way to "get to know" some of my ancestors, cousins, aunts, and uncles especially when there is no photo available.

Being on the board of the Butler Cemetery, a lot of my ancestors are bury there. Just a few to mention, some of my ancestors are Abbott, Butler, Williams, Thompson, Burchfield, Mullings, Bailey, Priest, Cook, Heer, and Puckett. A lot of my friends and neighbors are buried there too.

I have been transcribing cemeteries since August 2013 and photographing headstones, whenever available to place with the information. I have enjoyed connecting family members to their heritage through the pictures of their ancestors' markers.

For the information I enter onto Find-A-Grave, I use backup documentation from headstones, death notices, and other documents. If you find an error in a posting of mine, please let me know and I will correct it. I can be reached at [email protected]. Plus, please use the EDIT TAB on a memorial to request any changes, additions or family links that need to be made. Thank You

TRANSFERS: I have no problem transferring memorials to Family and friends who will do a better job providing the loving care they deserve. I look at the Find A Grave "guidelines " as suggestions, and I will transfer memorials to any relative past the Find A Grave four-generation rule. I will be happy to add additional information or links. I will not transfer my own relatives except in very rare instances. In many cases, I will make transfers when I have not added a tombstone photograph and am not related. If you request a transfer please include the reason, the memorial number, and your member number.

If you volunteer on this website and decide you no longer want to maintain the records please transfer your records to someone who has an active account and willing to take over the records. I am one of many willing to take over records from my area. This really will help reduce duplicates. It would also be a good idea to leave someone instructions on how to make these transfers should you go inactive without warning. ***** Thank You (Borrowed from another FAG Contributor)
