Hello everyone. First of all I want to say how much this site means to me. It has helped me locate distant relatives where in the past I hit a brick wall.

My mother, born in 1911, was the youngest of 13 children and she passed away 17 years ago. I remember many stories that she and her sisters shared with me. Long before she was born, the older children went across the prairie in a covered wagon. I so wish I would have written things down but I was to young to realize the importance of our family history. Now with my 2 sons and a beautiful grand daughter I am sorrowful that I can't expound on things better.

My father, the oldest of 3, would tell me stories of his childhood. Unfortunately I didn't hear many stories of the
family history. I know attorneys feature prominently in his family. Daddy passed away 17 year ago just 10 weeks after
momma. I miss them so very much. His brother passed away about 4 years later. My father's sister is doing well and I really want to sit down soon with her and write some stories down.

Family names I am looking for...

Maternal side- Garlington, Robbins, Speight. I will add more as the names come to light.

Paternal- Wilkinson and Posey. I heard more names growing up but can't recall them just now. I remember first names like
Uncle Horace, Aunt Dell and Uncle Percy. I had a relative on
dad's side who had contracted polio.

I remember a cousin named Melissa Lynn... Her last name fails me. She was from a small town in Alabama. She would be in her 40's now probably.

Both of my parents are from Alabama. Places where family are- Birmingham, Woodlawn area, Walnut Grove, Gadsden,
Anniston, Dothan, Tuscaloosa, Mobile, and possibly Talladega.

There is/was some Garlingtons in Florida in the Gainesville area and also Orlando area.

Please feel free to contact me via this email... [email protected] ..... if you can share information about my family history. Please make sure you put Find-A-Grave in the title line so it doesn't get deleted. I do not open emails if I do not know who or what it is about.
