First I beg those of you who add memorials, do not add the full obituary from the newspaper. Sometimes there are things in there that are not correct. Second, please stop turning off all forms of communication for here. I understand that you get a lot of messages from FAG or people here. But when I legitimately need you to correct things on my family's memorial that you have very wrong and you have communication turned off, it really upsets me. I work hard to make sure information is correct and when I can't get you to correct what you have, it makes all my efforts wasteful AND it gives someone the wrong information.

I started doing genealogy research to find out about my grandfather's family. They were from Tattnall County, his father originally from South Carolina or North Carolina. When he was three his mother, Daisy Voila McDonald Bratcher left him, his brother's, one sister and his father. His father was in his 80's and not able to care for the younger boys and daughter, so he had them placed with different people. My grand father, Curtis "Shorty" Bratcher, was placed with a woman he called Aunt Sweet. His brother who were closest in age to him, Hershall "Tinker", and younger sister, Sue, were placed with their maternal uncle, Columbus Napoleon Boone. The older boys stayed with their father, Daniel A. Bratcher. My grandfather only lasted a few years with his Aunt Sweet as she was much older and could not raise a rambunctious boy. At this time he was placed in the children's home in Appling County. This is where he made his home but traveled back to visit Aunt Sweet until her passing. In the later 80's a couple of his brothers tracked him down. There is where what information we do have has come from. But their father never shared with them any information about his life before marrying their mother. So thus why I am sharing my story here. Maybe one day someone will read it and be able to share with me more about my grandfathers family.

Right now I am actively researching Bratcher, McDonald, Boone, Sapp, Kersey, Hand, Kirkland and any off shoots from them. I have already done extensive research on my Hutcheson, Griffin, Yawn and Crosby lines so I am not always actively researching them but am willing to help those who need it. I am glad to help with any research in Appling County.

I have now started researching my husband's family which has been very hard as he recently found out the father who is on his birth certificate is not his birth father, his birth father's father is not who everyone thought and the maternal grandfather he thought he had is not his mother's birth father. So I am now having to switch gears and am researching the Dull's, Colley's, Hammond's and Mullin's.
