Hi all, I am thrilled to find this site. I live in a lovely house built by JWA, Moline, IL, in 1896.
I would love to find a portrait of John and Sarah to hang on the wall. I found their gravestone at Rock River Valley Cemetery this fall; it is very near the house. There is much info on the Net about JWA's son Frederick Paul, but I want more info about his father who died in Moline. Thanks, Scarlett
I am trying to find out what happened to my 3rd g.g. James Short who married Margaret Hoover in White co. IL, had 2 children, and went to Black Hawk War in 1832, and never returned to his family. I have 4 ideas, the strongest of which is he was killed by Indians and buried in a mass grave.
