I've always been fascinated with cemeteries. We always visited all the relatives' graves each May to leave the annual heavy stone crocks full of plants and flowers. I loved visiting all the other graves and reading the inscriptions. I especially love old cemeteries.

I was so sad to see how much biological growth was on the white veterans' gravestones which both sets of grandparents had. One uncle had tried cleaning them with a wire brush which is the worst thing to do because it wears the stone and decreases the readability. I discovered a solution called D2 that the government used on the stones and also for many other applications. This was a miracle worker and completely removed all signs of biological growth and kept it at bay for at least 2 years. It's easy to use and non-toxic. It doesn't require much effort but it is expensive and few stores carry it. I had to order it online and had it shipped to friends in Penn Yan, NY so it was available for me to clean all the relatives' headstones. If you want to see a stunning difference, look for D2 or a similar product for cleaning gravestones. I have no vested interest in D2! Also, if there are white veterans' headstones that are very worn, the government will replace them.
