Hi,

I view family history as an important part of understanding why some families have certain traits, it is literally in in our DNA when we go back in time and discover our forbears and what drove them to move, change vocation, marry outsiders and so on.

I am in New Zealand and have done a lot of my Maslen genealogy whilst I lived in Europe. Whilst my family hailed from Wales, it was clear it was a Wiltshire name, in fact, centred around the Vale of Pewsey, specifically the village of All Cannings and I have managed to get my lineage back there. I have a copy of the The Registers of Allcannings & Etchilhampton, Wiltshire.
Transcribed by Joseph Henry Parry, Devizes,"Gazette" Printing Works,1905 if anyone needs me to look it up for them, please email me, I would be delighted to search for you.

Be warned, there is a gap in the Register of about 30 odd years in the late 1600s/early 1700s.

In fact I am stuck on this side of that "chasm" with James Maslin, Christened on 24 Aug 1707. If you think you have found the missing links before, please email me (I see member 'Goddess' has done some work there), I would love to hear from you.

I am also interested in my Belgian family named Bekaert from Ghent and before there, Ekloo and Maldegem. Feel free to contact me if you are on the hunt.

If you are looking for New Zealand graves, I can manage some town visits on my travels for you, let me know.
