Bio

Family means a lot to me. I think that is partly because I was an only child who wished for a brother or a sister. Our extended family was also small. I only had 3 cousins. Both grandparents were living and I liked to ask them about our family. I am so thankful I did. Their memories were interesting and helped me understand why I was who I was.
In the 1980's I started doing research on my family. Most research then was done in a library in their genealogy departments and I lived close to the Detroit library, I also went to the closest LDS church library and ordered material from their extensive resource.
It was even more fun to research when my cousin joined me. She has helped to add a lot of information.
One of the best remembered times I have is when we took a couple of days and drove around to locate the old cemeteries and grave sites of some of our family members. We climbed over a barbed wire fence and walked through a corn field to find one. I got a horrible case of poison ivy at another one.
Find a grave is really one of the best sources I have found. It's a huge data base and I feel it is one of the best places for information to help you find the Proof needed for each family member. It is also a touch you can have with some one you didn't know but wish you could have.
I am thankful for all the volunteers who take the grave stone pictures and those who maintain the web site. It is a huge undertaking.
I wish you luck in your research to touch those who formed the family you are a part of.
