My research primarily centers on the first African American families to inhabit Limestone County, Texas including the families that arrived while the area was still a part of the Robertson Colony (Robertson County, pre-1846). The cities and communities that make up the general area of Mexia, Springfield, Groesbeck, Coolidge, and Sandy, Texas are relevant to my research.
