Bio

Hello, my name is Roy Ramon Olivarez. I was born in South Texas ( Harlingen, Tx. ) I joined this site because I am very intrigued by my moms side of the family (The Cavazos) and their deep roots to Willacy County, Tx. Growing up in school here in Texas, we ( as young students) are not taught in depth about this old culture that our ancestors had in South Texas. I have come across people from Mexico asking me when my family came across the border, I could only say that there was no border when they settled the area. Also for my Anglo buddys, lol, I can say my family was in Texas before some of theirs. I showed one of my co-workers one of the grave sites that dated back to the 1800s and they were amazed. My moms family didnt keep any good records of how long they have been in the area but these graves give me enough proof. I have researched some of the old Spanish land grants in the area and all the last names match. Me along with my brother are trying to piece together some of the mystery to answer some questions.
