These are all very important and personal projects to me.

I am of Native American descent and most of my ancestors have no markers and in many cases, no last names to search for unless they adopted a new, "American" name.

I take time to clean off the stones that have been covered by time. I will clear and clean with my hands and carry a broom to clean off the sand and dead grass, only using water on the stones if necessary. I even take scissors that I use to cut the tall grass that could cast a shadow on the stone.

I've climbed under bushes and into the surrounding forest to get to a picture of forgotten stones.

I take special care of the military stones because I believe that they deserve our most sincere respect, in fact, every time I work on a Military stone, I say "Thank you for your service", may sound weird to you, but I owe them at least that and make sure to fix any flag that has fallen.

I think about every stone and take care of it as if they were my own family. You may see my pictures along with an older picture taken by someone else underneath it. I mean no disrespect to the original photographer, I just think that the family deserves to see the best, updated picture available. It takes me hours, but it's all worth it!

Please let me know if you notice any errors in the memorials I've created. I'm happy to transfer memorials I've created to family members who wish to keep them updated.

Love, Light, and Peace,

Maria
