Bio

I was born in Portchester, Hampshire, UK but now live near York, UK and enjoy family history research for myself and others.
The family names that I am particularly interested in are WADDINGTON, LOWE, STONE and PELLETT on my side and DEAKIN, RICHARDSON, CATON and McKUEN on my wife's side.
One particular line of research is Harry Stafford Caton who emigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada after WWI.
My maternal grandfather was in 2nd Battalion, Manchester Regt as a bandsman and was a stretcher barer at the battle of La Basse in WW I. He died on 13 Oct 1914, possibly whilst collecting wounded soldiers on the front line. He is recorded on the monument at Le Touret, near Bethune in France.
Coincidence or not, my son was born on 13 Oct 1977; 7+7=14!
Having been born in Portchester, near Portsmouth, Hampshire, I am a life long Pompey fan ie Portsmouth FC.
Happy hunting. Bernie
