Bio

I live near Halifax, Nova Scotia and since 2016 I've been researching my family genealogy of which I found quite a lot scattered over the Internet. (Very nice when someone else has done most of the work!) The Corkum family originated in Gorinchem, Holland (from which our family name came), the second generation had moved to Germany in the late 1500's, and the last remaining two brothers came to Nova Scotia in 1752. The other paternal and maternal branches (Zinck, Hebb, Rhodenizer) also originated in Germany. I have found Find-a-Grave very valuable in locating where my relatives of the last few generations had settled (and are buried!) While most have been on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, there was a large number that had also moved to Massachusetts to various communities around Boston, and some who have moved to other locations as you can tell from the number of virtual cemeteries I have containing relatives' graves. I use the virtual cemeteries for geographical statistical purposes. So far I've amassed nearly 18,000 names just in my Corkum tree and found numerous noteworthy relatives which I've listed on the genealogy page of my web site.
