I recently moved across the country from Suffolk to Hampshire. Living in Southampton, my friend and I needed somewhere to walk our dogs and found Southampton common and the adjoining cemetery now called Southampton Old Cemetery.
It is a beautiful place, overgrown,unkempt but fascinating. It has become my go to place for me and the dogs. They Love romping through the overgrown graves and I love to read the amazing Epitaphs.
Thus my interest in graves. Having found Find a Grave I am now obsessed with documenting the headstones and my friend loves to delve into their lives. She has been interested in ancestry for years and is still looking for relatives.
Think it’s going to take us a long time as nearly 117,000 are buried in the cemetery!
