Loy was born in Albany, Georgia and moved to Thomasville, Georgia in the 70s. He spent 30 years in the Navy from 1986-2016 as an aircrewman aboard P-3 Orion aircraft. He retired as a Command Master Chief. After retirement he served as a minister at Bible Baptist Church in Oak Harbor, Washington.
