I grew up in southern East Tennessee (Monroe County). My paternal family name is Frank, but many of my relatives outside the general area have a last name of Franks. So, I'm not sure why our surname is Frank. I had a distant relative (I think my great grandfather's brother) who moved to northwest Arkansas around Prairie Grove, AR in the late 1800's. So, we have Franks relatives there. I've met some of those relatives over the years as we visited there and they visited us in Tennessee.
