I believe it is important to take photos of the headstone that includes the surrounding area, not only a close up, as it helps it feel more complete.

I will endeavour to connect family members and correct information where I can.

Photo tip - avoid taking photos from far away then cropping them tightly and then uploading them. When you click 'view original' the image will either be tiny and/or blurry when zoomed in on.

People seem to be declining obituaries. I can't find anything on find a grave stating it has to be 70 years old or on Trove (as I've been told), especially considering the amount of online obituaries these days...

Find a Grave does not discourage the legitimate indexing of the deceased through obituaries or other third party accounts. Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. We ask that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other third party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people (e.g. survivors) to protect their privacy, and respond generously to the family of the deceased."
