Bio

Edgar Amaya is a professional genealogist, writer, and nomad. His globetrotting began in San Luis Potosí (Mexico). Next, he arrived in Chicago, the place where his Polish, Irish, Mexican, Slovenian, and Croatian ancestors converged.

During a three-year stay in Barcelona, he wrote and published Diving Deep for Sea Shells. This biography of legendary jazz harpist Stella Castellucci prompted research and investigation into his family history. Edgar's mix of cultures and languages led to learning the record types of each branch.

While living in Salt Lake City, he completed genealogy programs with Boston University and Salt Lake Community College. From there, he created his business – The Bookish Genealogist. After a year in Porto (Portugal), he is now based in A Coruña (Spain). He continues to document and be inspired by the forces of nature contained in his matrilineal line.
