Bio

Born in Canada (=Mom), raised in the US (=Dad), now living in Sweden (=Husband).

My husband often asks me, "Are you piddling around with your graves AGAIN?!?" and I tell him that it's challenging, satisfying and relaxing for me and much like laying a jigsaw puzzle - finding the right pieces and fitting them together along with a deep reverence for the task and for those who have passed and their relatives.

Genealogy has interested me in recent years, especially since finding out through DNA testing that I have an older paternal half-sister which was a complete - and wonderful! - surprise. As a Canadian-American who now lives in Sweden, I also know that many North Americans have Scandinavian roots and are interested in knowing more about their Swedish ancestors. If my photos and memorials can help them connect their own puzzle pieces, I'm more than happy to help.

I try to match my photos with grave information at gravar.se, svenskagravar.se or the reference database Begravda i Sverige 2. I then check Ancesty.com to find complementary or corraborating information to verify names (spelling and order of names are not always correct on headstones or in death records) as well as maiden names, dates and relationships. I try to be as accurate as possible, but please let me know through suggested edits if I've gotten something wrong.
