"History remembers only the celebrated, genealogy remembers them all." -LO

As a young child I remember going to the cemetery to visit my grandmother. My grandfather would walk around telling me stories about the men and women buried there. He would dig out the stones and clean them off. I could see the upset in his face that these people, his friends, were slowly being forgotten as their stone makers were being reclaimed by the earth.

My father, when his father died - would go to the cemetery and clean off the graves of his family. His grandparents aunts and uncles. He would tell me stories about what it was like growing up with them, I felt like I was right there with him. My father died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 57. I found myself spending a lot of time at his grave side. I always made sure his grave was immaculate - as well as the graves of all our relatives.

I discovered my father had online memorial on FIND A GRAVE and had a HORRIBLE time trying to get that memorial transferred to me. I will not do that to you. If you are reading this still, you obviously are interested in the photos and connections I've made here. Maybe it's someone you know - a friend or relative. I'll transfer the memorial to you unless it's a relative of mine … :)

I clean, clear, catalogue - and connect.
