I am a writer, musician, songwriter and activist. The Austin History Center has a copy of my story collection Dancing, written under the name Ruby Turner (LittleDog Press, 1993), a self-titled lili and walter CD (my husband Walter X White and I had an acoustic duo called lili and walter 2008-2014), a home history with an essay about gentrification in East Austin (Chestnut Avenue, 1208), and the Ruby Turner Papers 1972-2019 (Accession No AR. 2019.041). The papers include materials I gathered as I wrote Art and Memory: Eryk Markham 1950-1995 (a memoir about my life, my cousin Eryk's life, and Austin's arts and LGBTQ communities) as well as photos, reviews, poems by Eryk, and an oral history interview with Eryk's friend the actress Lana Dieterich. The photo of me was taken by Walter in Austin in 1993.
