I began working on my ancestry research more than 15 years ago, but had limited time and even less money to invest in it. Since I retired I re-prioritized my life as I began feeling time slipping away. I very much wanted to share my families history with my siblings and their children so I channeled my resources on ancestry research.
I grew up in Oregon and spent my youth in Oakland, Oregon. I spent some of the happiest times of my life spending spring breaks with my great-grandmother Catherine Elemeda 'Kitty' (Hebard) Mohr, Roeder and Harvey. I recall the dinners at my uncle Stanley Mohr's when the family lived in the 'Parrot Mansion' in Roseburg, and being scolded for running up and down the front stairs. I could not wait to go to my grandparent's, (Hugh and Ila Cole) ranch in Dodge canyon. We briefly lived just at the end of the road to their place. Then we lived for a time in one of the old Umpqua area school houses (converted to live in) which was once located near what is now James Wood Park.
My mother's family were from Omaha, NE, her mother was a Stone and her father was a Graham. Sadly, I only knew a few of them well since they lived so far away. My uncle was a magician and his visits were always a treat.
After graduating from college, I worked as an artist and graphic designer for over 30 years. I've been providing photo restoration for over 25 years. I am now retired, but still enjoy doing art work, graphic design work and photo restoration on a limited basis. The love of a hobby never goes away. I have restored many of the old photos I've uploaded to my Ancestry pages and enjoy sharing them with others in search of their history. I appreciate the help I have received from so many others also in search of their histories.
My mother taught me, "If I didn't have something nice to say, I was better off not to say anything at all"... Which makes it difficult to say that, but I needed to. We may not always agree, but we can always treat each other respectfully. Without our differences we can't learn and grow. I love you all.

Darla,
Just looked at what you have added to Austin Mires memorial on "Find-A-Grave." Boy, am I GLAD I turned it over to you as it LOOKS GREAT! I am SO HAPPY to have that fine memorial to one of Ellensburg's greatest persons! THANK YOU!
