I am a research librarian at the George A Smathers Libraries at the University of Florida. I am doing genealogical research in conjunction with a short memoir by one of my father's relations on his mother's side who survived the Galveston Hurricane of 1900. I have found this site to be of great help, and decided to contribute to it in the interest of remembering the dead and being of service to the living.
