Bio

In the 1980s and 90s I lived in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland.
I spent a great deal of time in the library of that town, gathering information on the ancient family of Comyn (10th to 13th century).
I also looked at my family name "Cumming" from the Isle of Skye.

I have found that the medieval Comyn family (who were Earls, Lord and Justiciaries of Scotland) had very few references to where such prominent people were buried

The Comyns granted many charters of land to religious groups (Cistercian Monks and others), with the understanding that their families would benefit from the arrangements. For example:

"On condition that Richard (Comyn) himself, his wife and children should be received into the brotherhood of the convent (St Mary of Kelso the church), and be made partakers of its spiritual benefits.
This grant was confirmed from time to time during the next century."
The Scot's Peerage, Vol. I, p. 504-505

There are no records to prove beyond a doubt where the Comyns are buried.
I feel that the family of Comyn have earned their place in history and deserve to have memorial sites, to achieve this I have placed the Comyns burial sites in one of the religious locations given by charters.
