A couple of years ago I made my project to photograph as many memorials at the Canterbury Crematorium, Linwood Avenue as possible so that families can track down loved ones or find out information. On some memorials I have gone further and added obituaries or death notices and sometimes what happened to that person if through a tragic accident or otherwise. I hope that the family of the deceased can take comfort in the fact that their relatives have not been forgotten. I also try to clean up the plaque as much as possible before photographing. Some plaques are beyond repair unfortunately.
I love doing this work but some people don't appreciate the time and effort that it takes to photograph an entire cemetery of many thousands and I won't engage with bullies or trolls on Find A Grave.
However 99.9% of other contributors are great and it's wonderful to share information and I'm happy to transfer management of any memorial on request.
