Bio

Retired Library Director and vice president of the Hughes County Museum, Holdenville, Ok. Author of Acho, (history to 1910 Hughes County), also working on story of C. W. Polk, one of Holdenville's first Deputy sheriffs; also history of Edward's Trading post and Ft. Holmes. I've found approximate date of James Edwards death by slaughter from escaped Slaves in Choctaw Nation but need more details about James. He came from Georgia, white man married to Creek lady Haywood, who removed to Creek Nation, Indian Territory and began the Edwards Settlement, last supply stop before Santa Fe, 1849'ers. The Aird Cemetery in Hughes county is abandoned but a few stones still on location. Son in law of Edwards, as was Jesse Chisholm who married Eliza Edwards.
