Please, please ask me to transfer a memorial to you if you have had any relationship to the person. Memorials should be with those who knew them

It is the quality of the memorial that honors a life, not the quantity of memorials you have. Working to make sure memorials are accurate, complete, and have plot info in our National Cemeteries. I also try to make sure I have photographed the markers for all my memorials. Memorials should be as complete as possible to honor a life.

When adding memorials for those who are recently deceased, if you are not a family member and it is too soon for the burial information to be known, please wait until all the burial information is known to create the memorial. Many family members do not want their loved one on FG, I know someone who had to have a memorial removed over 6 times as it was made, deleted and remade. How hurtful is that?

Please realize that when you place someone's memorial in a cemetery, that they are not in, friends and family may come looking for them. You can tell everyone to be kind, but that is a very unkind thing to do to someone. This is not find what an obituary says, or find where a memorial service was held. It is find a grave and if the person is listed as being in a cemetery there should be a grave to find, marked or unmarked.
