Bio

My father was adopted when he was about 5, by Edgar T. Hiott. To me and my siblings, he was Pop Hiott. I think his family hails from North Carolina. He passed away in 1978. My father's real father was a man by the name of Chester Hosea. My Great Grandma Ada Underhill was his mother. She was my father's Grandmother. I've been trying to research that side of my family, but Ancestry is so expensive. Even the DNA test is out of my budget, even though it's something I've been wanting to do for years. My family lines are Higbie, Payne, Hosea, Hiott, Martin, Schuman, Shelton, Taylor---these are the ones I know of. My grandma Higbie's maiden name is Payne. Her father's name was James Wiley Payne. I think they're from the Farmersburg, Indiana area. Her brother, Paul Payne was my great Uncle. He had a son by his first wife, Mary---Wiley Rene Payne. I've never met him, but my mother, Norma Jean Higbie (Hiott-Shelton) knew him. I don't know where he is today. It's been so difficult not knowing who I am. I've been a Hiott all my life, but my blood is Hosea blood. I'm only a Hiott through adoption. I would like to find the rest of my family--my blood family--the Hosea vein.
