After the first five years of my life in Monterey, California where I was born, I lived and grew up in rural Missouri. I went to school in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, and graduated from high school there. After graduation and some college at Missouri University at Columbia, I was in the US Navy for four years as a photographer. Then I worked as a telephone installer in Oklahoma during the 1970s. After that, my wife and I were missionaries to the Philippines for about 15 years. Since 1995, we have lived in Texas and Colorado. I have been married for 53 years to Wanda Bayse from Iowa, with 4 children, 16 grandchildren.
