Bio

I am the sixth child of Robert Stanley Benton and Madelyn Alice (Union) Benton. {I am Robert Scott, son of Robert Stanley, son of Clarence Arthur, son of George Henry, son of William Royle, son of Loren, son of Zebulon BENTON.} My family, most likely, first settled in Guilford Connecticut around 1645, when the Bentons came over from England. In 1758 Zebulon was born in Guilford. After serving as a gunner in the 2nd Regiment of the Colonial Connecticut military during The Revolutionary War, Zebulon settled in Rowe, Massachusetts, and married Abigail Burt. His son Loren married Lucinda Tuttle. Loren's son, William, married Eliza Blood, and moved West to Barrington, Illinois, where he worked as a butcher. He served for The Union Army as a Second Master Sergeant in the 62nd Infantry of Illinois during the Civil War. His son George married, Mary Anne Church, and he became a farmer in Belvedere, Nebraska in around 1880. My grandfather, Clarence, married Ella Sophrina Ogg, from Geneva, Nebraska. He sold men's clothing at The Hub in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. My father, Bob Benton, was a Pearl Harbor survivor on the battleship The U. S. S. West Virginia when it was sunk in battleship row, near Ford Island, Hawaii. He served all six years that the United States were involved in World War II. He ended his years in the service as a Chief Gunners Mate in the United States Navy, stationed at The Inyokern Experimental Bomb Testing Range, in the Mojave Desert, near Santa Monica, California. It was there that he met my mother, Madelyn Alice Union. She was in the W. A. V. E. S. when they met and got married in 1945. She was a Yeoman Second Class in the United States Navy. Bob then received a drafting degree from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He sold restaurant kitchen equipment, as Vice President, for Pegler's Food Service Company, in Lincoln. I also graduated from UNL and sell granite countertops here in Lincoln, Nebraska. I am married to Maria Magdalena Meza. I am related to the following family surnames; BARNETT, BENTON, BLOOD, BUCHANAN, CAFFERY, CARSON, CHURCH, COX, CRAIGEN, DABNEY, DIGNAN, DOWLING, EDWARDS, GERLACH, HENDRICKSON, HESS, HOEY (HOY), KELLOGG, LAMB, OGG, PENDLETON, RATNOUR, SKAGGS, THOMPSON, and UNION. My wife's family has the following surnames; ALMAZAN, BARRON, MARTINEZ, MEZA, NIETO, and VAZQUEZ.
