I discover ordinary books at southern antique shops and uncover the stories they hold. There's so much more between the covers than meets the eye. My searches for the true owners of these books have lead me to Civil War Wilmington (NC), 18th century Scotland (UK), 1840s Charleston (SC) and 1930s Greensboro (NC). They have also lead to me to more simple places, like FindAGrave and WikiTree.com, and FamilySearch (BTdubs... in my line of searching, FindAGrave is my fave).

If you happen to be related to anyone I discover via my searches (check my virtual cemeteries) I would love for you to learn more about them; and may I just say, you have some very interesting and endearing ancestors.

Edits and all that are welcome--I make quite a few of them myself :)

What do my searches mean to me? Well, I see it in the lyrics of Patrick Doyle's "Touch the Sky."

"Where dark woods hide secrets,
and mountains are fierce and bold,
Deep waters hold reflections,
Of times lost long ago...
I will hear their every story
Take hold of my own dream
Be as strong as the seas are stormy
And proud as an eagle's scream."
