In 2021 I was on a trip to Connecticut and found myself searching my heritage during the long drive from Georgia. I learned much of my heritage beyond the oral history I knew had origins in Massachusetts and Maine. We added to our itinerary and found ourselves grave hunting in Maine before we returned home. It was on that trip that I located my 4th and 5th great grandparents graves and it sparked a passion in me to learn more. I have tried to go slow and be deliberate with what I add. I have visited grave sites in many states, some in cemeteries some in fields and others on mountain tops. With every new addition to my family history my excitement to discover more grows. Beyond building my family history, I plan to take photos and help this site for others because it has helped me discover more about my roots. My gratitude goes to all those who have been stewards of memorials as what they have done matters a great deal to those of us searching for our history. In honor of their work and to honor my ancestors, I am thankful to begin my work contributing where I can to this site. Feel free to reach out if we have a familial connection or if you have information you enjoy sharing. Melissa Houghton Edwards
