I served with the US Army's 4th Infantry Division, operating in the Central Highlands, during the Vietnam war. I arrived in Vietnam March 1968 and served until March 1969. There were more than 500,000 Americans serving there in 1968, and more than 16,000 of them were killed that year. There were no front lines; the entire country was the front line. We fought against the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and the Viet Cong (VC) who were being supported by China and Russia.
