My paternal Pearson ancestors originated from the Bedale area of North Yorkshire and I have tracked them back to 1735. My great grandfather John emigrated to York Toronto Canada with 10 of his children after his wife Jane died in 1880.

My grandfather Robert Walker Pearson stayed behind in Bedale as he was indentured on a five year apprenticeship as a trainee draper. Robert never followed the family to Canada.
