Murrell J. Mitchem 1815 - 1855 (and his wife, Elizabeth Arnold Mitchem) lived near 5200 Sandy Creek Road, in Madison, Morgan County, GA. He established a family cemetery on his land across the street from his home. He was the first person to be buried there. The old home property has been sold, but the Mitchem Family Cemetery is still maintained by some of the descendants of Murrell Mitchem's 9 children.
