Davis/Norval

Andrew Jackson Norval (11 Sept 1850 - 3 Aug 1934) changed his name to John William Davis after the Civil War due to a small (non-violent) issue with a black man. Andrew recalled the name 'Davis' from a mailbox that he had seen sometime previously. Since then, the family has officially used the last name Davis instead of Norval.
