John was born May 15, 1866 in Thayer, Union, IA, died Dec. 17, 1945 Creston, Union, IA.Obituary 10-16-61 from Iowa newspaper - Afton? "GEORGIA A. MILNES DIES AT D.M. Mrs. Georgia A. Milnes, 83, a former resident of Creston, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Heifner, 1018 Leland Street, Des Moines, at 1:45 a. m. Sunday. She was the widow of John W. Milnes, a former Union county recorder. Funeral services will be held at the Keating and Beemer funeral home here at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Frank Jacobs of the Fort Des Moines Methodist church will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Her body will lie in state at the funeral home until time of the services. The casket will not be opened after the services. Georgia A. Smith was born in Mills county, June 10, 1878. She was the daughter of James H. and Jane Banister Smith. She was married at Council Bluffs, Oct. 9, 1901, to John W. Milnes. She came to Creston following her marriage. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1945. Mrs. Milnes is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Catherine) Dusenbery of Creston and Mrs. Robert (Arline) Heifner of Des Moines; a son, William Milnes of O'Neill, Nebr.; a brother, Fred Smith of Omaha, Nebr.; and a sister, Mrs. Grace Young of Omaha, Nebr. Mrs. Milnes was a member of the First Methodist church here; a 50 year member of Vesta chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of Union White Shrine of Jerusalem; and a charter member of the Ruthean class of the Methodist church."Deed records, Creston, Iowa: (Source - Dorothy Eyberg, researcher, Arispe, Iowa)
