William "Red" GIEBE was born 25 FEb 1874 in St. Louis, MO to Franz GIEBE and Caroline "Lena" MAIRS GIEBE. He had many siblings. He was part of the Irish Mafia in St. Louis known as the Egan Rats. He murdered someone and through a MO Senator got sent to prison on another charge of Robbery that he had committed so he wouldn't be tried for murder. He served his five years 1906-1910 in Missouri State Prison. He remained part of Egan Rats for many more years. He married three times. Lillian LARK, Ida MURPHY and Stella CAREY. Lillian had twins and one died at birth. The other Earl William GIEBE Sr. born 1897 and died 1957 was also part of the Egan Rats.Lillian divorced William most likely while he was in prison.Ida had two children, William GIEBE and Leo who died at birth. Ida died in 1918. He then married Stella "Estell" who had been married before and two children by that marriage. He died Oct 1933 from tuberculosis.
