Prison Ship Martyrs'

Between 11,000 and 18,000 American Patriots died aboard British Prison Ships in the waters around New York City during the Revolutionary War. Most died of disease, especially smallpox. After the war the bones of these heroes were gathered as they washed ashore and a monument was created in Brooklyn New York. The men listed here are some of my relatives listed as being among the those who died aboard those ships.
