Examples of foiling a hard to read marker

Using painters tape (try to tape to the other side of the foil, if possible)or just folding it over the top and sides of a grave marker, you can apply a sheet of aluminum foil, shiny side down, to the surface of a difficult to read grave marker. Using a SOFT brush, such as an old toothbrush, gently brush over the foil so that it recedes into the recesses of the engraving. You should be able to read the marker much better at this point, but you can also prop a flashlight or cell phone light to reflect off the marker in such a way that it increases the contrast.
