Adah G. (McCulloch) McArthur obit New Oregon Cemetery

After an illness of four months, Mrs. Adah G. McArthur passed away at her home Friday evening January 6, 1928 aged 71 years, 7 months and 29 days.Mrs. McArthur was born Decorah May 7, 1856. She was the daughter of Robert and Emeline McCulloch and was one of a family of six children four sisters and two brothers all of whom preceded her in death, excepting one sister Mrs. Jennie Phelps of Portland, Oregon who couldn’t be here for the funeral.When she and her twin brother Arian were six months old the family moved to New Oregon, Iowa where they lived ten years when they moved to Cresco, which was then a new town and which has since been her home excepting two years lived in Madison South Dakota with her husband M. J. McArthur whom she married in 1896.Mr. McArthur passed away January 9, 1924. A baby daughter and son Archie children of a former marriage preceded her in death several years ago. Her brother Adrian died September 24, 1924.Besides her sister Mrs. Phelps she is survived by five nieces, Mrs. Alta Johnson, and Mr. F. E. White of Cresco, who were with her a large part of the time during her last sickness, Mrs. Nott Scheffer of Minneapolis, Mrs. Thelma Parker of San Diego, California, Mrs. Frederic Gerling of Portland, Oregon.Mrs. McArthur was a faithful member of the Methodist church and Ladies Aid Society also the W. R. C. the members of the latter society attending in a body the funeral which was held in the church Tuesday afternoon, her pastor Rev. F. H. Weed officiating.Buried in the New Oregon Cemetery beside her late husband.This obituary was collected by my great grandmother Almeda (Schofield) Clark.
