Brenda Deon Odle was born at home on Sept.9, 1953, in Denison, Texas to RH and Bernice (Likes) Odle. She was a 1972 graduate of Denison High School, attended Grayson County Jr. college and received her BA, with Honors, from the University Of Texas at Austin in 1976. Brenda worked as a dietician at the Texoma Medical Center and also helped run her family's daycare center. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Denison, where she was the departmental director and teacher for their Special Ministries. Brenda created the Special Ministries curriculum and had an article printed in the Baptist Standard about how she developed this awesome ministry. At the time of her death, she had over 25 special members in her Sunday School class. Brenda also had many talents: played guitar, piano, had a beautiful singing voice, had an awesome sense of humor, was great cook, seamstress, and one of the sweetest persons ever. She helped take care of her parents and was a stand-in mother for her niece (Jenni) and nephew(Gary, Jr.). I had the pleasure of meeting Brenda at UT in Austin, at Littlefield Dormitory for Women and we remained friends for over 20 years until her untimely death on Dec.19, 1995 of cancer. Everyone who knew Brenda must truly miss her kindness, wit, intelligence, and dedication to all that she took on in life. Lastly, Brenda had an unshakeable faith in her Lord Jesus and there is no doubt in my mind that she walks the streets of gold with her parents and our blessed Savior for eternity.
