A copy is available on Facebook at Momence Genealogy Corner.James Templeton of Pembroke, popularly known as Uncle Jimmy, and the oldest settler in that township, died Thursday morning at the ripe age of 81. Mr. Templeton had lived in and near Pembroke Twsp for over fifty years. With the exception of Abe Beedle, he is the last of the pioneers who settled southeast of Momence. He was a brother of R.J. Templeton, deceased, and an uncle of J.H. Templeton. A wife, five children and a brother survive. They are Mrs. Jane Templeton (McMann), Mrs. Nellie Richardson of Rockford, Mrs. Alma Frye of Michigan City, a daughter who resides in California, Edward of St. Anne, George, who lives at the family home, and John Templeton of Minooka. Uncle Jimmy was married in 1864. His wife was a Pembroke girl. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the family residence. Interment will be at Momence Cemetery.
