San Rafael Daily Independent Journal, 18 Feb 1963Coast Guard Hunts For Three Missing On BoatSearch for three missing El Cerrito men who went on a fishing trip Saturday in a 19-foot boat centered today on an area from Point San Pedro through the Golden Gate and northward to Bodega Bay.A Coast Guard aircraft was combing the area 30 miles out to sea in the hope of spotting Charles Wheeler, 41, a policeman; Alex Lissoway, 51, a fire department lieutenant, and Merle M. Roach, 53, a service station attendant.The men started out from a Richmond boat yard early Saturday in Wheeler’s boat, powered by a 100-horsepower outboard motor. Wheeler’s wife, Anna, told the Coast Guard the men frequently went outside the bay to go salmon fishing.Coast Guard patrol boats yesterday searched bay and ocean. The cutters Taney and Dexter also joined the search. Aircraft went as far north as Bodega Bay.
