Ruth M. Haas, 79, formerly of Smyrna, died Monday of cancer in Kent Convalescent Home, near Smyrna. Mrs. Haas was a student in the 1927 nurses training class at Mil-ford Emergency Hospital, now Milford Memorial Hospital. She was also in the first class of nurses training at Kent General Hospital in Dover. In the 1950s and early 1960s, she worked in the state treasurer's office. She was past president of the Kent County Democratic Womens Club. She and her husband owned and operated Twilight Motel near Smyrna for many years. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Smyrna. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles W. of Kent Convalescent Home; a daughter, Ruthann Tyler of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a sister, Violet Sapp of Smyrna; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.
