Simon Gross (changed to Groce in America) was NOT a descendant of this long line of people including Phillip Gross listed at the bottom of this posting. It makes me extremely upset to see this false information on here. It is totally unverified and based on the LDS Mormon record posted with no proof and no evidence and no documentation that Simon was son of a Phillip Gross of Strasbourg Germany - this is absolutely false. His parentage is unknown - the only clue we have is from a family Bible written in Germany stating that his father was a P Gross from Zurnach, Canton Bern, Switzerland. Since the name Phillip is NEVER used in the family but the name Peter is used for many generations in the family, we feel with some certainty that the P stands for Peter. There is no proof of that either. Please please please remove this false information!!! I am a descendant of Simon's and have collaborated with other researchers and archives and genealogy libraries over 20 years and I too have seen that false record made by a Mormon wanting to get all their ancestors into heaven. Often lines are not proven or documented in their haste to list all names in their line- believing that they will not get into heaven otherwise.
