John Hardin Smith was born in 1848, Winchester, Scott Co., Ill. He was the son of John Smith and Pamelia/Permelia Clarkson. He died May 15, 1924 in Winslow, Ark. He married Mary Matilda Osborn and had Daisy, Dorothy, Mary, Estelle, and Albert. When Mary Matilda died, he married Maude Frances Hooten. John and Maude had Laura, John Hardin, Jr., Fleta Alice, James, Alex, Russell, Helen Virginia, and Joseph Blocker.
