Foss West Verona

This is the oldest burial ground in the area, founded in 1871. Many pioneers of the area are thought to have been buried here. Neglect, weather, and roaming cattle had taken toll of the cemetery and the records were lost during a tornado where they were stored. The Verona township board levied funds and appointed James Foss and Severn Lane, sons of Verona pioneers, to clear the property and erect a new monument. Names on the plaque are only those of known record.
