The first survey of Binscarth Cemetery was made by David Charles Okeefe, land surveyor, on the NW quarter of section 11-19-28(-W1) at the request of the RM of Russell. The first grave in the cemetery is reported to be that of a Henry Fowler. Although no date of this burial is evident, it would appear to be before that of George Matheson who died on March 31, 1888.
Family names of other people buried in this cemetery before the turn of the century are; Rhoades, Johnstone, Rice, Widdicombe, Scarth and McGilvray, Some other well-known names appear from 1900 to 1903 as follows; Coyne, Honey, Anderson, Tibbatts, Turnbull and Hyde.
Owing to the incompatable size of the plots in the Okeefe Survey, that portion of the plan West of the driveway was deleted, and a new survey of that section was done by M. E. Waller, surveyor, around the year 1922. Two Other sections have been added to the cemetery over the past years.

As noted above, a part of the town's story and those of its inhabitants from the early days of European settlement through roughly 1984 is told in the volume "Binscarth Memories". A free digital version of this and many other Manitoba local history books can be found online in the University of Manitoba Digital Collections. There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
A list of burials in this cemetery is available from the Manitoba Genealogical Society (reference #0770), transcribed by a member or members in 1993. Also available to MGS members is a searchable online database named the "MGS Manitoba Name Index" (or MANI). Some additional information is contained in the 1996 MGS publication "Carved in Stone: Manitoba Cemeteries and Burial Sites" (revised edition, Special Projects Publication, 106 pages).
