Add PhotosThe Evangelische Kirche Pudewitz Cemetery should be considered a "virtual" cemetery, and was created based solely on the records of the Evangelische Kirche Pudewitz (Kr. Posen Ost) Kirchenbuch, 1787-1874. Today, Pudewitz, Posen, Prussia, is Pobiedziska, Poznan, Poland.
Before their migration to Grassyville, Texas, the birth, marriage, and deaths of ancestors of several generations of Bastrop County, Texas, families are recorded in the Evangelische Kirche Pudewitz church books.
It is unknown whether the memorials entered for this virtual cemetery are actually buried in a cemetery of the Evangelische Kirche Pudewitz, or in their respective villages, ie., the Kunkels of Weglewo (4 km north of Pudewitz); the Kruegers of Bugaj (10 km west of Pudewitz), the Ludwigs of Latalice (7 km north of Pudewitz, or the Hoffmanns of Glebokie (13 km north of Pudewitz), or even, perhaps, on the land that they farmed.
But the actual church records and this "virtual" cemetery, give several Grassyville families, a homeland and a heritage that might otherwise be lost in time.
